Hey everyone! I know I don't message much around here, and in this journal I'm going to explain why. As you might have noticed my overall presence here is rather dwindling for quite some time. This is already going back to DeviantArt going to Eclipse mode. Loved the old aestethic dA once had. Eventually I did get used to the new layout, but exploring for new artists has become rather hard (and browsing in general is quite a pain). Plus the layout is still something that I'm not too fond of. Since Eclipse I've also looked to spreading my wings to other platforms, such as Weasyl and Twitter (being way more active on the latter). Since the AI-art debacle (I believe you can pretty much call it as such) there's not much to stay for as the website will be and is planted full of AI generated art. While it's people's good right to explore the possibilities of AI, I find the way dA is going not the right one. There's many reasons as to why it's ruining my (and other's their) experience. Firstly, it's sometimes hard to tell AI art and actual art apart from each other. There are a lot of artists out there on dA, and they all have their own unique style. Yet you have to be checking the tags if something is AI art or not. Kind of a carefully treading what is actual art and what is generated without disregard to said artist. Secondly, the website has basically been flooded with AI art. While, as I mentioned before, I don't mind people exploring the possibilities, I don't find them as much of an actual artist. To me it feels like pressing a few buttons to get something out of an AI compressing images of a database together (you can correct me if I'm wrong). It harms actual artists who put a lot of work in their pieces, and being pushed away now by AI-generated art. Their own art possibly being used for these generated pieces. Thirdly, given the road dA has chosen to go, it doesn't feel like a safe-space for artists anymore. I've seen a whole debate going on on Twitter about the whole new updates regarding opt-ins or opt-outs for certain things involving AI. From this I understand that the whole, at first, hasn't been in the favour of appreciated artist that dA had (and has). Many artists have already left, gone to other platforms. These are some of the reasons I feel held back coming around in dA. dA has lost its appeal to me. Of course Twitter isn't great either with its notorious algorithm, but it doesn't get bombed with AI-generated art. I'm fully aware every website has its flaws, but dA it taking that pretty much to a new level with its updates in the recent years. This doesn't mean I'll leave just yet. It does mean I might in the near future. I will however delete the submissions that aren't mine rightaway. I've posted a few of the pieces I've commissioned over time, and, with respect for the artists, I'll delete those from dA. Despite this more negative journal, I hope you understand, and have a very nice day!

Hello everyone, As you can see I changed my username from enzovoort to PhillipWolf. I carried this first username with great pride, but I have been thinking of a name change for a very long time. It just didn't seem to fit me anymore :(, hence the change of username as of now. Enzovoort was just a username I made up, because, well, I couldn't think of something else. But as years progressed I started to get (slowly) more involved into the Furry Fandom as a furry artist/hobbyist and art admirer. So it felt more of a random thing rather than what I stand for or what I am today. For the time being, I can't change my username on FurAffinity just yet. I'm planning to do so when that feature is ready. I heard they are working on it. Till then it's still a fragment of the past. But if YOU do have updates on this usernamechanging topic, I would gladly hear about it. Stay safe, ~PhillipWolf

An update

2 min read
Dear watchers, visitors, everyone,

How are things going?

It's probably a bit unusual a journal from my part :o (Eek). I'm not much of a communicating genius as I'm pretty much an introvert (or: man of few words), but thougt it would be fair enough to give you all an update on things that have been going on lately. So here goes:

As you might have noticed (or not) it has been quite quiet with submitting art here on DeviantArt from my part. Ever since this February/March I've been rather busy with school/studying. I've almost finished my study at the university of applied science which I've been attending to since 2015. I thought I could finish everything before the summer break of 2019, because things had gone rather smoothly for the first 3,5 years. But things changed in February/March this year: failed a few subjects, had to do some resits and had some other delays which I would rather not talk about anymore. This means the last part of the study, the thesis, is also having a delay. I'll still have to spend some time to finish the thesis and some other loose ends after the summer breack, which is really annoying. But don't worry. I will have some kind of break and will try to squeeze in some sketches eventually (maybe September, maybe earlier). In the same time our handballteam gained some kind of promotion to a higher national division after a successful season:happybounce: . So next season will not only be a tough, but also a memorable one.

Enough about me, though. I hope you'll all have a nice and enjoyable summer break.

With kind regards,
enzovoort
